A Bee in Her Bonnet
Honeybee Sisters Series, Book 2
Their bees produce the most delectable honey in all of Wisconsin. And the three Christner girls are fondly known as The Honeybee Sisters throughout their peaceful Amish community—where their spirited sweetness is attracting any number of hopeful suitors. . .
Lively, determined, and independent, Poppy Christner isn't about to let some vandal keep making mischief on her family's farm. She's been outrunning boys and standing up for picked-on children ever since she was a girl—no matter how much her prideful, arrogant schoolmate Luke Bontranger insulted her. So Poppy certainly doesn't need his interference now, especially since he's made it plain he prefers demure, ladylike companions. In fact, if Luke doesn't stop helping her find the culprit—and growing humble and remorseful—she'll be forced to notice how handsome his change-of-heart is making him. And that could mean falling in love—maybe for a lifetime...
Praise for Jennifer Beckstrand and her Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series
"Full of kind, sincere characters struggling with the best ways to stay true to themselves and their beliefs." —Publishers Weekly
"A delightful voice in Amish romance. Sweet and funny." —Emma Miller

Self-confidence, practicality, and determination trump jealousy and meekness, and gendered behavior restrictions get shaken up, in Beckstrand’s optimistic, sweet second story of the Wisconsin Amish “honeybee sisters” (after Sweet as Honey). Poppy Christner is headstrong, accident-prone, and sometimes violent. She doesn’t take well to arrogant Luke Bontranger’s self-appointed responsibility to take care of her and her all-female household. Luke is frustrated by Poppy’s unsubmissive insistence on helping with the men’s work of rebuilding their vandalized chicken coop, but gradually their mutual disdain turns to affection. The social setting centers on dinners at the Christner household, giving Beckstrand a chance to feature simple, delicious food while highlighting the standout character of quirky, sarcastic matriarch Aunt Bitzi and the growing collection of house cats with un-Amish names, and giving the reader confidence that the young engaged couples will have the community support they need. This sequel follows immediately from the first book, keeping the overall sister dynamic strong and adding clues to an ongoing vandalism mystery, leaving it unsolved going into the final volume. Beckstrand’s good-hearted, strong-willed characters grow by pushing gently at the trappings of traditional life without rebelling against it. Agent: Mary Sue Seymour, Seymour Agency.
